No Girl's Dream Should be a Man!

A bit late review for Episode 13

As I saw the live telecast, I didn't have the heart to see it with subs. Waited for episode 14! now need to catch up with it before next Wednesday! Need to catch up, otherwise, Eda might leave off to Italy!

Jokes apart, it was a confusing episode! Celine being abandoned at the altar sounds sooo far off, that I didn't realize it was just one episode old! these Turkish shows are soooo long it is like a few episodes before.

This episode was confusing! I understand Serkan was being a good friend to Celine. Even Eda was being understanding. But his hot and cold attitude was confusing. After telling all caring dialogues, out of the blue he tells Celine, Eda calms me (it sounded out of context), and then when Eda comes in, he says, I wish I could hug you or something like that. till then Serkan was not even missing Eda, so it looked out of place.

Loved this dialogue of Ayfer - No Girl's dream should be a Man! Wish we could have such dialogues in our desi serials! We don't have a man but marriage is the dream!

In rom-coms, leads falling in love, engagement, marriage, their first lovemaking scene - all hold a special place to fans. We want to fall in love with them, worry when they fight, celebrate their engagement and marriage. So in a rom-com, when they show a scene hinting at a love-making scene, and the morning after looks normal (except for Eda being more open in kissing Serkan), unlike such morning-after scene. I do agree we shouldn't make a big hue and cry for something beautiful within a relationship. But I didn't expect it to be treated as so ordinary in a rom-com. In a drama or action series, I would have expected it.

From what we have seen, Serkan is the sophisticate of the two. Eda, though, had a boyfriend. We were never shown if their relationship was physical too. She seemed to be from a protected environment with her aunt and girlfriends keeping a close watch. Either she was a virgin or probably had just that one useless boyfriend. Compared to Serkan, she is innocent. When such a girl makes love for the first time, won't she be more affected? Eda looks way too casual. And for an overprotective aunt, how come Eda's absence overnight was not noted. Or did I make the mistake to assume they both stayed overnight?

I find the idea of such an intimate scene treated so casually and there by reducing its value in front of the fans. Or did nothing happen? Can someone pls clarify?

I hope there is a reason for Ayse to show such a scene in such a way! I am waiting to see the justification. Hope she won't disappoint me!

Serkan was too distracted in this episode, I didn't feel the romantic Serkan of episode 13. I agree with dad's hospitalization, Efe's entry, holding's shares, Eda's Italy trip, he must be feeling hunted. But did not feel the romance in this episode. That is why that curtain scene felt out of place! At least if they had had a passionate fight that ended in love making it would have been more believable. Both are capable of such high passion! Missed opportunity!

Somehow I felt it was a disappointing episode.

  1. I think the missing love making scene was a part of what we call now as the disastrous Curtain Scene Episode 13. I know people say 13 is an unlucky number , it definitely seem to ring true for Sen Cal Kapimi. This episode had a distinct lack of cohesiveness as a story as we felt a few clues were missing here and there and when we consider all the episodes before and after it feels like the dropped the ball on this one. It had some awesome moments but they didn't pull together to hold the story...as you said too many missed opportunities..
