Sen Cal Kapimi - Story so far......

                    

 In the recent times, this Turkish show attracted our attention and so rates first topic of discussion in our new blog. The series did start a few weeks earlier, so let me try to give a short summary of the story so far. 

Eda Yildiz, who wants to be a landscape architect was banking on her college scholarship. But when the sponsor company cancels the scholarship that year, she loses her chance to go Italy and study. And she also loses her boyfriend who had already made plans to go to Italy to study. This dual loss angers Eda and she blames the owner of the sponsor company, Serkan Bolat for her misfortune. She uses his picture as a dart board. 

Eda gets to meet Serkan during the convocation ceremony of her friends. She uses the opportunity to criticize him publicly. Though angry, Serkan checks about the issue and finds his people had taken the decision without informing him. Though he offers scholarship to Eda,  she refuses his charity. But unexpected circumstances lead to Eda kissing Serkan publicly. Being a conscientious girl, Eda tries to correct her mistake. But she ends up becoming a fake fiancee to Serkan to help him get his girlfriend Selin back.

Serkan and his PR Manager Selin were dating. But as Serkan was not interested in marrying, Selin gets engaged to another guy called Ferit. Serkan is upset about this fact and he wants to separate them. The reasons are more business oriented as Ferit is friendly with Serkan's arch-enemy Kaan. Selin has shares in Serkan's company, and by marrying Ferit, there might be danger to his company. So he is keen on separating them both. He uses Eda to make Selin jealous and get back to him. 

Eda does start as unwilling fake fiancee, but slowly finds herself attracted to Serkan. She sees the man under the robotic CEO who yearns for his elder brother, has a complicated relationship with his dad and who is very protective of his mother. Serkan is not a man of words, he finds difficult in communicating but he shows his feelings by his actions. Eda gets to know him as she also starts working in his company. 

Serkan too gets attracted to the innocent and warm Eda who cares for people and does not hesitate to show her caring and kind nature. His office people, his cold and snobbish mother and even his dog, Sirius gravitate towards warm Eda. Serkan too start enjoying spending time with Eda and feels comfortable sharing his innermost thoughts with her. 

One careless act of Eda ends up Serkan losing a project to his arch enemy and in anger he suspects Eda and accuses her publicly. For a girl to whom honesty and pride are very important, Eda gets very upset and angry and leaves Serkan. Later with her friends' help she proves that she was innocent and demands apology from Serkan. Meanwhile Serkan has realized his mistake. His anger was a thoughtless reaction which he realized was wrong. But being a proud and egoistic character he was unable to reach out to Eda. After getting concrete proof of her innocence, Serkan realizes he needs to compensate Eda for the incident. He tries to make her join him in his project so that he can ensure she gets to do what she loves. But Eda is not interested unless he apologizes.

Finally Serkan in episode 9 does apologize with flowers and a beautiful wording. Eda, who is now completely in love with him, goes back to work for him. But she realizes her love is one sided and he still wants to break up Selin and Ferit. So as of episode 9 they have got back together as fake couple to complete their work project and to separate Selin from Ferit. 

Eda and Serkan seemed to have cosmic conneciton. Serkan's love for stars and Eda's surname meaning star have some kind of symbolism. In spite of fake relationship, Serkan and Eda seemed to be comfortable with each other. Serkan is able to confess about losing his brother (dont know if he died or lost), his music and his interest in stars. Selin, his longtime girlfriend, gives him a generic watch as a birthday gift indicating that he has never shared himself with her. In contrast, Eda gives him a cute a model of earth in space, showing how much she knows about him. It was a very personal gift given by someone who knows you well. Though we get to know Serkan in these episodes, Eda still is a mystery. What we know so far is that Eda has lost her parents and has been brought up by very caring aunt who ensures Eda values herself first. I think the aunt is the one who instilled that sense of self worth and pride in Eda. We also hear about a rich and affluent grandmother in Mardin who disproves of both Eda and her aunt. We also see Eda being very close with her friends group who are involved with most of her decision making. 

Phew, hope i was able to get all important points! I have not spoken about the warm relationship shared by Eda with her friends who play important roles in the story. I also have not detailed about Engin, Serkan's friend and his triangular love track with Jeren and Pryl. Serkan's mother's agoraphobia and Eda helping her is another interesting side story all together. I have focused on the lead story for this recap. For later episodes we can talk about other tracks too.
